July WTI traded sideways in the US yesterday evening before moving sharply higher as Far East trading got into its stride, following equities, making the day’s highs at $60.99 as Europe stepped in and thereafter sliding back, with a little more aggressive selling coming in with early US traders to meet the US main session open at $59.65. A choppy session followed, still tied to the fortunes of US equities, the first ninety minutes making a low just ahead of $59 then rallying to around US opening levels before easing again to make the day’s lows at $58.93 late in the NYC morning. Thereafter the market ground higher, back to the $60 area and chopped sideways to meet the last hour of the main session action at $60.22. A very subdued end to a subdued followed, the expiring June contract holding up without fireworks and July content to hold station and settle at $60.10. |
