June WTI traded sideways in the Far East after Thursday’s late ramp, the day’s highs at $58.88 in the London morning before starting to slide, the selling accelerating as US traders stepped in, down to $57.31 and then steadying a little to meet the main US session at $57.92. The first hour traded choppily a little higher but once again eyes were on US equities and following their lead the market attempted to move higher, stalling at $58.59, before setting into another decline, moving below $58 as the NYC morning ended and then accelerating south to meet the last hour of the main session at $56.69. Initially stagnant the last thirty minutes proved volatile, pushing to $57.13 and then diving hard to record the day’s lows at $56.07 before eventually settling at $56.34. A strange week that saw a swing in sentiment flagged by Wednesday’s action but essentially manifested on the final day, recording losses of some $2.30 over the course of the week, all logged on Friday. |
